Dyab Abou Jahjah Supports Movement X

Upon my return from Lebanon, MvX was an idea, a vision, and seemed to me as a lonely endeavor. I spoke to few people about it, mainly my comrades, and fellow travelers on the road of struggle.  “Like a whisper” it was, in our meetings, a secret unspoken, yet so powerful that it craved the light. An embryo that was so keen on birth, premature, and yet pushing out towards life. In the hearts and minds of my comrades, MvX was shaped, and grew out of its embryonic journey reaching the day of its birth. Without the commitment and sacrifices of many comrades, this would have not been possible. It wasn't an easy journey, neither was it a painless birth.

Few days ago, I was elected president of this movement by the founding congress, and I am aware that my work is cut out for me. In MvX we come from different houses, we have different backgrounds, our pasts are divergent, yet we move in the same direction, we have united our journey and this is painful for as much as it is hopeful. It is vulnerable for as much as it is mighty. I am confident that many will join the movement now that it has seen the light. And I call upon all people who believe in that society model we seek, and I tell them: Take that step, brothers and sisters, and make that move, for only together we can achieve what this generation and the coming ones cannot prosper without, a cohesive, inclusive, diverse, deeply democratic and fully decolonized society. I am confident that MvX will build upon the legacy of what was before it, and go much farther on this road than any other movement or organisation. And I believe that for the simple reason that MvX is a small model of that society we want to build. There are no limits to what we believe is achievable, because we live in times of change.  Not the end of times, but the beginning of a new era, an era that we will participate fully in shaping.

Beware O forces of darkness! Rejoice O wretched of the earth! A new light shall shine!
